Daycare Attendance Tracking That Actually Saves You Time
Tracking attendance shouldn't eat into the time you spend with children. But at many centers, the morning rush still means clipboards, paper sign-in sheets, or clunky software that takes too many clicks. By the time every child is accounted for, half the morning is gone.
KidzLog's attendance system was built to fix that. Every feature — from individual check-ins to bulk actions to kiosk mode — is designed around one goal: get attendance done fast so your team can focus on what matters.
One-Tap Check-In and Check-Out
Each child's attendance card shows their current status at a glance. Checking a child in or out takes a single tap, with an optional notes field for context like "dropped off by grandparent" or "leaving early for appointment." Check-out timestamps are recorded automatically, so your end-of-day records are always accurate.

Bulk Actions for Busy Mornings
When a group of children arrives at the same time — a bus drop-off, the start of an after-school program, or the morning rush — checking them in one by one is painfully slow. Bulk check-in lets you select multiple children and check them all in at once. The same applies to bulk check-out and bulk mark-absent. Select the children, confirm, and you're done.
Mark Absent
Not every child shows up every day, and your records need to reflect that. The Mark Absent action lets staff flag a child as absent for the day with an optional reason. Absent children are visually distinct on the attendance list, so there's no confusion about who is actually in the building.
Built-In Health Screening
Many licensing bodies require a health check at drop-off. KidzLog integrates health screening directly into the check-in flow — staff answer a short set of configurable questions (temperature, symptoms, exposure) as part of the check-in process. The responses are stored with the attendance record, so you have documentation ready if a licensor asks.
Predefined Notes — Tap Instead of Type
Centers that use attendance notes heavily can configure up to 20 predefined note labels in settings. During any attendance action, staff see quick-select pills above the notes field. One tap fills in the note — no typing required. It's especially useful on shared tablets where typing is slow.
Roll Call View
Sometimes you just need to see who's here and who isn't. The roll call view gives you a clean, classroom-level snapshot of attendance status — present, absent, not yet arrived — without the extra detail of the full attendance list. It's ideal for teachers doing a headcount or for quick reference during transitions.
Kiosk Mode
For centers that want parents to handle check-in themselves, kiosk mode turns any tablet into a self-service station. Parents enter their PIN, select their child, complete the health screening if required, and check in — all without staff involvement. It reduces the bottleneck at the front desk and gives parents a sense of involvement in the daily routine.
Why Accurate Attendance Records Matter
Beyond the operational convenience, accurate attendance data feeds into everything else your center does:
- Billing — attendance-based invoicing depends on reliable check-in/check-out times
- Compliance — licensing audits almost always start with attendance records
- Staffing — knowing who's present helps you maintain correct child-to-staff ratios
- Parent trust — parents want to know their child's arrival and departure are tracked carefully
Getting Started
Attendance tracking is available on every KidzLog plan. Your team can start using it immediately — configure your predefined notes, set up health screening questions, and enable kiosk mode if it fits your workflow. The system works across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers with no app install required.
